When to visit Dubai

Travel brochures and online destination guides say that Dubai is a place that tourists will enjoy all year round. It’s largely true. Tourists generally plan vacations that avoid the rainy days, and that’s hardly ever a problem in Dubai. It’s a place where it’s summer all year round.

You can have too much of a good thing, though, as Dubai leans to the opposite extreme: the place can be infernally hot!

Dubai’s hottest months begin in June and end in September. If you are foolhardy enough to go out in the daytime during these summer days, expect to be roasted in temperatures soaring to 41°C (106 °F). Hiding under a shade offers little comfort.

On the bright side, it hardly ever rains in this time period. In the past 40 years, the total number of days with rain within these months has only been 2 per year and a grand total volume of 0.8 mm.

To compensate for the heat, all buildings in Dubai are equipped with state-of-the-art air-conditioning. Even the ancient wind towers offer a pleasant breeze. Nonetheless, the blazing summer heat is the reason why the fun life in Dubai usually starts at sunset on these days.

Cooler days prevail during the rest of the year. Dubai experiences its coolest days in January, where the average temperature runs between 14 and 24 °C (57 and 75 °F). January is a good time to visit Dubai, as is December. In February, the temperature rises slightly, and so does the average rainfall; this month is Dubai’s wettest month of the year.
