The climate in the Czech Republic is temperate continental. Its summers are hot, but this is also the time when most of the rain falls in the country.
The country experiences summer in the months of June to August, with the warmest temperatures felt in July. During summer, it is only typical for the temperatures to go beyond 30 °C or 86 °F.
Czech winter is cloudy, snowy, and very cold. Winter happens between December and February, during which the temperatures can go below -5 °C (23 °F) in city areas, up to -15 °C (5 °F) in the mountains, and about -30 °C (-22 °F) in places with higher altitudes. The mountainous areas in the country get covered with snow for up to 130 days in a year.
Spring is experienced in the country at the latter part of March up to May. The weather varies; it may rain at times, which can also lead to flooding.
Autumn sets in in September. The weather during this season averages at 20 °C (68 °F), though this can go below 15 °C (59 °F) in October. By November, the temperatures in the country can drop as low as the freezing point.
If you want to tour the country with fewer crowds, you can schedule your visit in May or September. The weather is also generally mild during these months. If you are after cheaper accommodation rates, you can try visiting in April or October. There are also fewer crowds during these months. The hostels in the country can be quite full with students in the months of July and August.
