Macau is characterized by a humid subtropical climate similar to that of neighboring Hongkong. Lying on China’s southern coast, Macau experiences frequent rains. The humidity in the atmosphere maintains a slightly above-average level throughout the entire year, ranging from 75% to 90%.
During the summer months of July to September, humidity soars high along with the temperature. The heat, peaking at 30 °C (86 °F) during daytime, might prove to be too uncomfortable for alfresco strolls and undertakings.
Winter season, on the other hand, is generally dry due to the Siberian High. The climate from December to early March plays between slightly sunny to rainy and frosty. Occasional typhoons and violent thunderstorms between the summer and winter seasons may also thwart any plans or endeavors.
The best and safest season to visit Macau is during autumn. The climate is generally friendliest from October to December. With an average temperature of 20 to 25 °C (68 to 77 °F), the atmosphere offers the perfect and most comfortable weather for all sorts of indoor and outdoor activities.
Spring is another good time to visit Macau. Humidity is at an average level from late March to June, and the weather is predictable.
