When to visit Botswana

Botswana has a semiarid climate that is dry and hot for most of the year. However, during the summer months, the country experiences a rainy season that is characterized by unpredictable rainfall.

The summer season of Botswana is from November to March. The country experiences very high temperatures during this season, which is tempered by the rains.

The winter season, on the other hand, is from May to August. This is also considered the dry season of Botswana, when there is hardly any rainfall. The days are much cooler than summer; the temperatures during the night are very cold – below freezing in certain areas, in fact.

The months in between the summer and winter seasons have days that are cooler than those in the summer but nights that are warmer than those in winter.

Botswana’s average temperature is 21.2 °C (70 °F), with the highest monthly average temperature at 32 °C (90 °F) and the lowest monthly average temperature at 6 °C (43 °F).

When you are planning to visit Botswana, it is generally recommended that you do so during the winter season or the months close to it. This is to make your day trips much more comfortable.
